Barungi Christopher works as one of Redearth’s Field Officer, supporting the local team as they train and monitor teachers throughout Uganda:
Before joining the ReadEarth team, I worked as a teacher at Masindi Town Model Primary School for 8 years (2004-2012). After that, I went on to work with the Rwandan Education Board in Rwanda as a Mentor for two years until 2014. Here, I worked to support teachers with learner-centered pedagogy and assist the development of low cost teaching and learning aid planning. I also conducted several training programs, including English training for teachers to improve their English proficiency.
After gaining a lot of experience, I was recruited by RedEarth Education and the local organisation Teacher’s Action for Children’s Learning and Empowerment (TACLE) as a Field Officer. Since then, I give school-based support to teachers in terms of trainings, lesson observation, co-teaching and encouragement through supervision. I also support reading schools by conducting training and organizing demonstration lessons for teachers.
